Heritage Kraal | Proudly Investing in Kei-Mouth, Eastern Cape

 • By: Clare Rieger | Architecture & Design / Heritage Kraal

Heritage Kraal Country Wedding Venue is a farm Wedding Venue situated near the beautiful Wild Coast. It is conveniently located 3km from Kei Mouth and 10km from Morgan Bay, Eastern Cape on the R349 and It is approximately 75km from East London and then approximately 40km from the N2.
THE STORY BEHIND THE VENUE
The farm itself is run and owned by our parents Rowan and Di Rieger. Caryn Rieger (my sister) and I (Clare Rieger-Coetzee) saw an opportunity to transform the farm into a Wedding Venue after we both got engaged at the end of 2017 and the beginning of 2018. My sister is a registered CA (SA) I am a Registered Professional Architect (PrArch). We decided to take a huge leap as sisters and formed a partnership we now call Heritage Kraal Country Wedding Venue. This new adventure was something I was so excited to tackle, being an Architect and designer, I had to try and retain the historic significance of the dilapidated buildings but also transform them into something modern, unique and classy. It was not only the construction work but also the special features such as the light fittings and the use of materials that made it all come together in the end. What was most special for me was that when I began this project, it was a few months after I had just opened up my own Business and starting practising as Principal Architect of Clare Rieger Architecture & Design. I practise as a Registered Architect offering professional services in the Eastern Cape. Not only was I the Architect on the project, but I was also project managing the entire development. The development was divided into two stages, firstly the High Fence for Wild animals, and secondly the building project. The first stage began in November 2018 and the second stage began in June 2019 and we finished 4 days before the grand opening, which was also my wedding Day the 21st September 2019.What was once a typical farm and farm outbuildings, is now a fully developed Estate and a beautiful Wedding Venue. “I couldn’t be prouder of the Architecture and design that went into the development, especially on a tight budget.” We couldn’t have completed this development without all of the people who contributed and devoted their time, the contractor and sub-contractors, my parents and one very important person was my husband Colin Coetzee who backed every decision we made and assisted and supported us along the way.
THE CEREMONY
There is an altar set up in the large, beautiful, sheltered, farmhouse garden. Seating is provided on large wooden logs between the trees.
THE VENUE
The Venue is in a great location, with stunning sea views and plentiful accommodation nearby. It boasts a modern industrial look and feel which works well with almost any colour scheme and/or theme you are wanting for your special day. The Venue hall is fully equipped to host up to 250 people and if additional seating is required, tables can be set up on the terrace, this also includes a dance floor. The venue is also fully equipped with ablutions  which caters for persons with disability.“Our main goal is to establish ourselves as a grand Wedding Venue and our substantial investment in Kei Mouth is proof of that. We want to add value to the community and area and set an example”
