The Border-Kei Chamber of Business’ Employee Relations Forum (ERF) is embarking on a project aimed at growing business in the Border-Kei region by showcasing local consultants and practitioners that provide services enabling the development of Organisational Capability.
This project forms part of the Organisational Development Portfolio led by Carey-Lynn Kurten and Josh Hayman. It is their belief that a wealth of experience exists in the Border-Kei region, and that if drawn upon, is able to make a significant contribution to business growth in this area.
It is our aim to provide members of the Chamber with a useful resource of consultants and practitioners, to both showcase what “local” has to offer, and to highlight the importance of building Organisational capability.

CAREY-LYN KURTEN – MILA

This model is a framework for understanding how trust and willingness in the workplace are connected. The Legitimate Leadership Model has been applied in over 300 diverse organisations in 30 countries over the past 25 years.MELANIE VAN VREDEN – ABANTU STAFFING SOLUTIONS
With a total of 23 years within the recruitment sector as an APSO accreted Individual Staffing Professional, Melanie started her recruitment career within a National JSE listed company Professional Assignment Group. After gaining experience within the recruitment Industry and learning the ropes of business, Melanie opened Abantu Staffing Solutions with partner Tracy Sumner. Abantu currently works with clients and candidates both Nationally and Internationally with start-up companies coming into the Eastern Cape.
KEVIN MARLOW – VISION CONSULTING
Kevin’s more than 20 years at a Management level in a number of diverse organisations has equipped him with a sound set of HR and business skills. He has developed the ability to think strategically yet implement interventions operationally. Kevin’s HR skills set is diverse, from representing employers on matters of misconduct, operational requirements, rights and interest disputes to developing career and succession interventions. In addition, he is an accredited Assessor and Moderator, a facilitator, HR Auditor and Mentor.
MARIANNE GRADWELL – GLOBAL BUSINESS SOLUTIONS
Marianne’s experience in the dynamic field of employment relations and employment law started in 1988 when she was appointed as an Industrial Inspector in the former Department of Manpower (now Labour). Marianne has experience in the full spectre of the HR functionality, from recruitment to termination stage, as well as strategy planning, organisational design, job profiling, conducting employee climate surveys, implementing and managing employee performance systems.
KIM SMALLIE – AUTOMOTIVE LEARNING ACADEMY
Kim has more than 18 years’ experience in the field of Human Resource Development and has specific experience and extensive knowledge in Industrial Relations, Strategic alignment of HR practices with organisational objectives, Organisational Development and Design, Project Management, Client Relations Management, Dispute Resolution, Risk Mitigation, Skills Development, Employment Equity Compliance, Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment legislation and training material development and design.
