One of South Africa’s most popular “small” motor cars in South Africa, the Volkswagen Polo Vivo Trendline 1.4, has enjoyed enormous sales over the years, maintaining its reputation for style, reliability and excellent road-holding.
But most important in these days of high motoring expenses, fuel consumption of the Trendline is frugal. After tests done, the average consumption is 5.7litres per 100km.
The Trendline, despite its 1400cm2 motor, comes with a power output of 55kW and Volkswagen SA have great delight in stating that the Polo “looks as smooth as it drives.”
Their advertising slogans continue: “With its smart design and handy features, it’s no wonder it grabs attention. Style comes standard.”
It’s a five-door hatchback type with 14-inch steel wheels and being slightly wider and longer than the older Polo models – it’s almost four metres in length – the Trendline’s road-holding abilities have been improved. It boasts ABS front disc and a rear drum braking system, assisted by EBD (Electronic Breaking Distribution}. For extra peace of mind there are passenger and drivers’ air bags.
The Polo raises the bar for vehicles in its category. Standard features include front electric windows, an electronic rev counter, a digital clock, a digital trip recorder , front door pockets and for the front passenger there’s a handy vanity mirror.
Needless to say, acceleration is magnificent with the vehicle responding brilliantly when required.
Drivers have available a fine range of colours from which to choose, from a bright red to white, each vehicle coming complete with matching bumper colours.
For safety and for remaining a magnificent all-round family vehicle, I have no hesitation in recommending the Polo Vivo Trendline . It carries a three-year/120 000km warranty and a six-year anti-corrosion warranty.
