Fun family activities in East London

There is plenty to do and see in East London this festive season so don’t feel cheated if you are not going away for the holidays.

If you are on a budget, don’t stress! Pack a picnic basket, beach towels and of course… the mandatory sunblock, and head to our wonderful beaches for a day of sun and surf, all for the princely sum of R0! You cannot beat that for a bargain.

Rather be ‘on’ the water instead of ‘in’ the water? Contact Southern Cross Cruises for a fun-filled high-speed, wave ramping, rubber duck adrenalin rush; a gentle ocean sailing experience; an inspiring whale watching cruise or a laid-back river cruise on their newest barge, ‘The Spirit of Emma’.

For the little ones, a ride on the Pinecreek Express and playtime in the kiddie’s playground is a must. Mom and dad can shop in the stunning farmstall and grab a bite to eat.

Beacon Bay Crossing offers a great choice of entertainment for the family from Gravity Indoor Trampoline Park to Adventure Golf at Xtreme Valley.

Head out on the Friendly N6 and visit The Calgary Museum, The Lion Park and Python Park, where you can visit The Venom Pit or play a round of mashie golf.

The Wild Coast Jikeleza Route offers fun and adventure at the beautiful Areena Riverside Resort; game drives and elephant interaction at Inkwenkwezi; markets and music at Tea in the Trees and chilled local craft beer at Emeraldvale Brewery.

The recently re-opened East London Aquarium and the extremely popular East London Museum are always a fun outing for the whole family.

If the weather is miserable, head to Hemingways Mall where the family can enjoy movies, Ten Pin Bowling, Formula Dodgems, 4D Simulator X-Rider, while the older family members can have a flutter in the Casino.

The ever-popular Guild Theatre, Alexander Theatre, Arts Theatre and The [email protected] offer a wide range of entertainment with something for all members of the family.

This is only a touch of what is on offer in our city this festive season. Enjoy! Staying home this festive season is going to be a lot more fun than you could ever have imagined.
