MISA Women’s Breakfast

On the 11 July, the Motor Industry Staff Association (MISA) hosted their first Women’s Breakfast event in East London. The Chamber had the privilege of attending the event which was insightful. Head of Communications from the Chamber, Candi Ferreira attended the event and added that there was nothing quite like being in a room full of positive women. The guests were welcomed by Chantaal Poovan of BMW, who was the MISA Eastern Cape Women of the year finalist for 2017. MISA CEO Marté Keyter gave an overview of the organization, which began as a small group of women in Port Elizabeth in 2009. “The organization is all about empowering and educating women on gender equality. MISA is also involved in various projects in the Eastern Cape, from children’s homes, old age homes to dealership recycling projects,” said Keyter. Local businessman and the General Manager of PNA, Heinrich Fuls, spoke of their involvement with the Sweetheart Foundation, and the handing over of their 10th wheelchair on the 18 July for Mandela Day. In between the speakers, the guests were entertained by the lovely Niqui Cloete-Barrass, who was a real treat, what a performer; the room was filled with laughter and applause throughout the morning, as we celebrated MISA and the women in the room.
